From a Small Kiln Fire After Graduation to a Cup of Healing Companionship — The Story of Me and KilnSolo
Hi everyone, I’m loooove, a girl who graduated not long ago.
Last summer, while my classmates were busy sending out resumes and preparing to join big companies, I chose a path that seemed a bit “silly”: I rented a tiny studio by myself, bought clay, set up an electric kiln, and started making these little ceramic cups filled with soft light. Many people asked me, “Why not find a stable job? Entrepreneurship is so tiring.” Yes, I know it’s exhausting. After graduating, carrying student loans and facing an uncertain future, I spent my days in front of the kiln, watching the temperature, failing again and again, and starting over. Sometimes at 3 a.m., while the kiln was still firing, I would sit there watching the glow and secretly wonder: Am I being too naive?
But it was during those lonely nights that I gradually understood what I truly wanted to do.
The cups I make are called KilnSolo — kiln shadows walking alone. Every piece is like a gentle little world: a bear napping among books, a cozy bedroom with a purple bed, a little deer quietly walking in a snowy night, or a lazy cat guarding its secret garden. They are not ordinary mugs, but miniature dreamscapes sealed in ceramic. When you drink your coffee, it quietly keeps you company; when you come home tired, its soft shape and warm colors gently embrace your eyes.
My favorite line on the website is: “Gentle Shadows Born Alone, Loved Forever.”
Every ceramic piece is born alone in the high heat of the kiln. At that moment, it is lonely — just like me right after graduation, carrying a bit of uncertainty and tenderness. But once it cools down and is held in someone’s hands, it gains the power to accompany others. I hope my cups can do the same — coming from my small, persistent effort, and becoming a little warmth in your daily life.
The days of starting a business are really not easy. When money was tight, I would save on food and drinks just to buy better clay. When promoting the products, I took photos, wrote copy, and packed orders all by myself. My fingers often got scraped by the cardboard boxes. But every time I received messages from customers saying, “This little bear cup makes me want to drink one more sip of coffee every morning,” or “The snowy night deer cup makes winter feel less cold,” I feel that every late night I endured was worth it.
I’m not a successful entrepreneur yet. I’m just a girl who has just started, using the most clumsy way to turn the gentleness in my heart into something you can touch. Maybe you, like me, are at some turning point in life, feeling a little lonely and a little lost. I want to tell you: It’s okay. We can all be like these little ceramics — walking out of the lonely kiln fire and slowly being treated gently by the world.
If you also need a little daily healing, please come and see my KilnSolo little world.
Those $85 or $98 cups are all handmade, carrying all my seriousness and love after graduation. New customers can enjoy a 10% discount too~
Perhaps one day, when you hold the Bunny’s Book Nook or the Snowy Night Warmth Mug, sitting by the window with a warm drink, you’ll think:
There is a girl who just graduated, using her small strength to try her best to pass on warmth to you.
